Walmart associates

I swear ... we went to Wal-Mart today and some of the associates that work there. whew I don't see how they keep a job.

for those of you who don't know. When you go into Wal-Mart, if you can't find something you're looking for they are supposed to show you where it is. They aren't supposed to say it's in aisle 41. They are supposed to TAKE YOU THERE!

Well we are going to paint my daughter's room and the Wal-Mart in Union City (half an hour from where we live) is remodeling. So you can't find ANYTHING in there. For instance the Domestics (bedding, pillows, kitchen stuff) is in the Garden Center. Sorry I'm getting off track.

When we went to find the paint chart (is what Terry called it) we asked one of the girls there where to find it. She said I don't know because I don't work back here I'm just helping but let me find you the paint person. So she goes to find the paint person and the woman says what are you looking for all snotty like. Terry said the paint chart. She said you mean the paint CARDS? He said yeah whatever. So she stands at the end of the aisle like we are dumbasses and says they are at the very end of this aisle on the left. Course there are 14 workers in the same aisle trying to disasemble the displays (because like I said they are remodeling). They have the aisle so close together you can't get one cart down there little lone have people on both sides that is blocking your path to the paint cards.

So while we are trying to get down the aisle to the paint cards she tells one of the guys that is trying to take apart the thing that holds the drill display. You don't need a screwdriver for that... you're going to tear it up. And he mutters under her breath and then says well that's how I was told to take it apart by whoever's name he used. She said well I'm telling you different. I don't care WHAT they said.

It's painfully obvious they don't really care for her. And how she gets to keep her job I'll never know.

Needless to say we didn't get any paint today. Didn't want to deal with her pain in the butt attitude.

had to show this

My daughter took this picture of herself. She was playing with the digital camera when we were up there the 10th and 11th of July and I thought it was pretty funny. She'll kill me when the boys start coming around. Oh wait they already do but they aren't taking her out yet. Which reminds me ... Terry and I need to go and get us a baseball bat.

Dwight came down to fish this time

Well Dwight (Terry's brother) came down to go fishing and we had a great time... that is until Dwight got a fish stuck in him. NOT GOOD!

He was trying to get the fish out of the landing net and as he was flinging the fish into the box it stuck him with it's fin. He's in pain and not happy about it. Course we fileted all the fish and he took them home so when he takes a bite now he can say take that you stupid fish. See what you get for putting a fin in me?

By the way in case you didn't know it. When you get stuck by a catfish you usually swell up. There is some discussion about catfish having poison in their fins. When they stick you most people end up with a swollen place and purple and blue. Dwight got lucky. It bled pretty good (almost made me sick) and I think he'll survive to fish again.

Unfortunately he had to cut his fishing trip short. They didn't get to go handpole fishing. :( By the way ... the wet spot on his pants is where water was coming out of the dip net when he was dipping fish.

yet another death

Ok .. maybe it's cause I keep talking about it.

David G. Smith was my first husband Gary's best friend. They went to grade school together. David had a twin brother Danny.

David lived behind me when I lived in Mt. Vernon and was a very good friend to me. He let me talk about Gary after he passed and let me cry and never said anything bad about it. Just let me talk and cry and shared funny stories with me.

He could sing just like Johnny Cash. In fact I loved to listen to him and remember that about him the most. I went to see him about a week before he passed and I'm really glad I did. I showed him pictures of mine and Gary's daughter which he was just thrilled with and he got to tell me all about his grandkids and how proud he was that his kids were doing so good.

went to see my daughter

My daughter has been gone to grandma's since June 2. She wanted to go back to Illinois to spend the summmer, like she has the last two summers. She loves it up there and it gives her a chance to spend time with the rest of the family (besides me and Terry) and her dad's side of the family. When I moved down here it was never my intention to take her away from her dad's side of the family but apparently that's how some of them felt.

Anyways I think my daughter is going to be quite the little cutie. She's also going to be a good photographer (like her mom I hope).

She took the pictures of the flowers. And Terry took the picture of her.

another death

Ok ... I've had enough. When is it enough?

The husband of the couple who used to babysit my daughter when I lived in Illinois has passed away. I would very much like to get up to the funeral but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. I have been in Illinois too many times already and I'll have to go back the day after the funeral. So I can't really afford it. Sorry Barb to hear of David's passing. He will be greatly missed. Natalie really liked him. She recognized the picture in the paper.

what next

Just found out that my uncle Earl is in ICU for a possible heart attack/thyroid/ whatever problem they think it might be. He is being held for observation. At the rate I'm going ... I'm going to need psychiatric help. or maybe medical help or something. What else could go wrong.

spoke too soon

I spoke too soon. Found out just now that one of the women that stood up with me when my first husband and I got married passed away June 25. After Gary passed I'm ashamed to say that I didn't keep in touch as well as I could have. Course I moved away a short 5 months after he passed and sometimes when half of your world passes away it's hard to keep up with friends and such that were more his friends than yours. They have a son who is about Natalie's age (we were pregnant about the same time) and they are good friends too. Course they would be since they've been together since they've been here (nine years).

Since I just came from up there last week I won't be going to the visitation though I really wish I could. I'm having grandma send a little bird thing to the visitation for Keith and the boys though so they'll know I was at least thinking of them and sending them a sympathy card.

Hopefully this will be the end of the deaths for a while now.

too many deaths

Well last week I attended the funeral of my grandfather on my father's side. He had been sick for a while and spent a week in the hospital. I did get to see him one last time before he passed. He was quite thin and frail looking but they were able to take him home before he passed.

The next day my great-great-aunt passed away. They are having her funeral today. I didn't go to that one mostly because they were only doing graveside and while I became close to her after my great-grandmother passed away, there wasn't going to be much point in my being there. She was the last of my great-grandmother's sisters.

She always told great stories about my great-grandmother and her when they were kids. I now wish I could have recorded them. But you always think about those things after it's too late. She had also been sick for a while so it wasn't that much of a surprise for her to pass.

I did alright with my grandfather's funeral. When I found out I was sad for a few minutes but it was like I put it out of my mind. I was fine all the way up until the funeral. They left the casket open and I don't know for some reason I had avoided looking into the box the whole time. Until the preacher was standing up there talking and I looked at grandpa and was like ya know this is the last time I'll ever see his face again. He looked good. Better than when I saw him at the hospital but anyway.

Hopefully that will be all the deaths I have to deal with for a while. I'm tired.

divorce

Well I posted back in April that Terry was still married. Well... today we went to Newbern and picked up his wife and went and filed divorce papers. It'll be all over with 30 days from now. He has to appear in court in 30 days for about five minutes and he's all done.

I drew up the divorce papers for him, we took them to a notary and had her notarize them and then took them to the courthouse. When we got to the courthouse they looked at me like I was totally stupid, pointed out about two errors that I had done and said you'd be better off to get a lawyer to get this done. Like I wasn't smart enough to do it myself or something. I didn't particularly want to have to do it but like I said we went to a lawyer and had them all drawn up. $595 and it'll be done in a month. whoo hoo! at least I won't have that hanging over my head anymore!

LOGD a browser based game

Have any of you ever played LOGD (Legend of the Green Dragon)? I was quite addicted to it for a while. I played it again for the first time in a long time now though!

It's a pretty cool game if you like that kind of thing which I do! So far I've had 10 dragon kills. I'd have a lot more than that but I haven't played in over two months. LOL

You get a new day twice a day and you get to slay dragons and fight creatures in the forest. If you happen to decide you want to go there and want to know more about the game holler at me. I'll be happy to help.

You can find LOGD in other places but I only play there

glad that's over

Well... the visitation and funeral went alright. It's all over with anyways.

I did go with him to the visitation and funeral. I got to know a lot of his family more and that's alright with me too. for the most part... they are all down home good people.

You know what my biggest pet peeve is about funerals now days though? WHEN did it become ok to wear what you would wear to a nightclub to a funeral. Don't get me wrong, I don't expect everyone to be wearing complete black or anything like that but please.

To me ... a funeral is about respect for the family and such but heck even the people even in my generation were wearing something they would wear to go clubbin. Maybe it was because I was taught different because I was raised by my grandparents. But something where you can see the boobs and a tank top shirt with a very sheer shirt on top. Come ON!

It was hot but even with me in my new suit I wasn't that bad. Yeah it was all black except for the pink shirt looking thing. It wasn't actually a shirt but it looked like it. To me .. it looked very classy. Terry's girls all wore pants and either a t-shirt or one of them wore the tank top/sheer top thing. I didn't say anything ... they aren't my kids but after we got home Terry and I talked about it but we were both quite ashamed. Heck even a granddaughter of the deceased wore a skirt that was a mini and a shirt that came down in a v-neck showing her boobs.

Oh well not my thing and I'm not gonna bitch about it. At least I looked good and my daughter looked good (who was wearing a nice navy blue dress) that looks ADORABLE on her. I wasn't about to embarrass my boyfriend.

timing

Ya know ... no one ever does what you want them too. Certainly not die. Now don't get me wrong. I don't expect people to die on a schedule. But doesn't it always seem like you have other plans then end up having to change everything around to go ...

Terry's uncle who taught him everything he knows about fishing died last night. So we'll be going to visitation tomorrow night and funeral the next day. Course we had PLANNED on Terry going to the dentist and taking Nat to grandma's to spend the summer. Now we'll have to wait until the 2nd of June. Which is probably better anyways since we don't really have the money to do it this week anyways.

I really hate the idea of funerals. I really hate the idea of this one. Not because I don't like his family ... I really honestly do. What I hate is being the outsider. I don't know most of his family but the ones I have met have been really nice to me. I don't like funerals in the first place but to go to my boyfriend's family's funeral ... I don't know. I'm not sure I feel good about it. Of course if he wants me to go I'll be happy to stand by and support him. Not that he needs it. But I know when my grandfather died it was nice to have my boyfriend with me. We weren't married yet but we later married. He was there to hold me and let me cry though even though my grandfather didn't like him. LOL

I just don't like funerals. I won't expect Terry to go to my grandmother's when she passes. He HATES them but I don't know how he feels about it. I'm not even sure if he wants me to go.

work at home

I need to find a job. If something should happen to Terry ... I have no where to live, no job to work at and I'm on the streets.

I don't particularly want to go to work outside the home yet so I'm looking for something I can do at home.

Anyone have any ideas?

I really enjoy being at home and being on the computer. I get to spend as much time as I want with my daughter and go to school functions and the like. But when my daughter reaches 18 I will no longer be eligible to get Social Security. What that means is I'll be going back to work at 41. Now I don't have to work because with Terry's income and my income we make it alright. What makes it bad is I'll have been out of work for nine years by the time I go back to work which will probably be close to impossible.

Well anyways if anyone comes up with an idea for working at home. pass it on!

SCHOOL'S OUT SCHOOL'S OUT`

Ok now maybe you're asking why I'm so happy. Can I count the ways?

Number one ... no early mornings unless we have a doctor's appointment or something like that.

Number two ... my daughter will be in Illinois for the next two months visiting with my family and her father's family. Don't get me wrong we'll be up there every couple weeks to see her and we talk to her every night but she always has a great time up there.

Number three ... we are going to run away and hide. We won't be with the stress and the crap that we have been putting up with. Yucko.

They start school back August SECOND! I personally can remember not starting school until after Labor Day. Since when did being back in school that early become such a priority?

My youngest stepdaughter didn't end up getting Nat last night. It was raining like CRAZY and her Blazer broke down.

I'll be glad when hail season is over. There is about 2300 dollars worth of damage to the Nissan Frontier that we have. Well it actually belongs to him. I don't pay the payments and I certainly didn't pick it out. It's a VERY nice truck though and I love to drive it. In any case. We are afraid to have it fixed. About the time we get it fixed it'll come another hail storm and we'd have to have it fixed AGAIN! So ... we've put it off for a bit. Besides the fact we have to pay the 500 dollar deductible. :(

storms

I swear... every time I turn around it's storming here again.

Last night there was a storm, night before last it stormed. And when it storms I'm not saying it rains a little. The wind blows like crazy and it doesn't just rain ... it looks like monsoon season out there. It will storm all night too.

The other day we went out fishing and got caught in the middle of the storm. My loving boyfriend only had one rainsuit in the boat. He put it on HIMSELF. I had a jacket but it only repels water to a certain point. So ... now we've decided we need two rainsuits for the boat so both of us don't get soaked. :)

It's supposed to rain tonight well all this coming weekend I guess. :(

Tonight my youngest stepdaughter (well we aren't technically married yet but she calls me mom most of the time) so I introduce her as my stepdaughter. anyways she's supposed to come and pick up my daughter and take her for the weekend. I don't know if weekend means until Memorial Day or what but in any case it will be peace and quiet around here for at least one day!

anniversaries

Today would have been mine and my exhusband's 10th anniversary. No I don't really celebrate it still but ... we were only divorced a year and a month before he passed away. Course the other thing is we got along BETTER after we divorced than while we were married. And when he got sick he was living with me. I was with him every day while he was sick and even held his hand and watched as he took his last breath. We got along better and were more in love when he died than the whole time we were married. All the things that were bothering us before we actually had a chance to talk about. He knew he was not going to make it long and I knew it and we got everything out in the open. Even before we divorced we could talk easily but not NEARLY as easily as after he found out his kidney's were failing. I'll be honest I wasn't the best wife I could have been. On the other hand he wasn't the best husband he could have been either.

I know now that I lost a VERY good friend and lover when he passed away. Even though he's been gone a little over two years now there are still times I miss him. I'm happy where I am with another but I'll hear a song or smell the same kind of cologne he used to wear and this ache in my heart HURTS. Terry and I don't dance, never have and probably never will. I think that's the single biggest thing I miss about Gary. That and talking to him. I loved to listen to his voice (if only I had a recording now). But when we danced... it was like no one else in the world was there. Most of the time we would either two step, sometimes waltz though I wasn't all that great at it or line dance. When we started dancing I had two left feet. When we met he told me if I was going to be with him I better learn to dance. I'm pretty good at it now I must say. I can even still remember most of the dance steps. in fact, the other day a song came on and I did the same dance we used to do quite a bit together. Now if I could only get Terry to do the dance with me but since he doesn't like country music I don't see that happening.

fishing!

Terry (my boyfriend) and I went and ran a trot line today. Well he calls it his leg line. A trot line that catches fish bigger than your leg. Well if you picked my leg that wouldn't be hard to do but most anyone's leg. Saturday he caught a flathead (a kind of catfish) that weighed 23 pounds. A BIG FISH! Good eating though :)

In order to run (bait) the leg line you have to of course have fish to put on it. Oh by the way ... it's a TROT line not a trout line. Who knew I was saying it wrong all those years. If I had to I could run it but nah. I'll let him do that.

We went up to the creek and got some bait. The creek isn't too far from here. Less than a mile I'd say but they have the prettiest fish in it. Creek perch is what they are called. He also caught some polys. Apparently that's a little yellow and black catfish type.

He's been fishing Reelfoot Lake for YEARS. Well ever since he was a kid. Even made a living at it when his kids were growing up. We still go about every day when we get the chance. He's teaching me to bass fish. I've only been a few times and caught one bass but it was with a friend of his wife. She wanted to go and knew I liked to go and said hey you and I should go sometime so a few days later I went with her. Worked out great. We get along great and she makes a great fishing partner.

We also fish for bluegill. Terry spends most of his time laughing at me. Just cause I can't get the fish to the boat as effectively as he does. Course he doesn't stop to think I've been doing this a couple years and he's been doing it all the time since he was a kid.

I'll see if I can post some pictures to the site later so you can see the pictures of the lake and some of the fish we've caught. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of the 23 pound flathead catfish. I'll take some when we run the line tomorrow.

Voting

Well I voted for the first time in my life. It's kinda funny. I moved down here to Tennessee and I'm doing all kinds of new things. Today I voted in the city primary where I live. I didn't know anybody running. And actually there was only like two races that had anyone running against them. After all it was just a primary. A Democratic primary no less. In the past ... had I voted I would have voted Republican. Only because in Illinois where I'm originally from most of the people that I knew and liked were Republican. But I never voted up there. Mostly cause I hate the idea of doing anything new by myself and two because ... well I didn't ever see the point. LOL

In any case I went and voted today. After I was finished a friend of ours (mine and my boyfriends) came over and he said well who did you vote for and I said I just picked one. He said did you vote for this one and I said nope. he said well what about this what and I said nope. I just went eeny meeny miney mo! and picked that way. He said well I'm not sure I want you voting again and I said well when you don't know anyone how else you gonna pick. So ... I picked. Not the right one of course. They shoulda put the guy I should have voted for in the mo place. LOL

After that I took a nap.

turtles

I've got three turtles now. Terry calls the Mississippi Map turtle that I've got a hicleback (he doesn't know where the term comes from) and the other two are southern painted turtles he calls line turtles. Because they have a line down their back. They are just too cute. One I found as he was crossing my shoe when we were putting the boat on the trailer after fishing. The other he found in the moss lookin at him. His oldest son brought me the other turtle. When I get paid this month I'm going to put them in two seperate tanks. They are just beautiful. When they get a little bigger I'll take pictures of them. They are in a 10 gallon right now but they will soon outgrow it. I haven't named my turtles yet. Not sure what I want to name them. They haven't started begging for food yet thankfully!

Neopets Cybunny Day

Hey there! Now what kind of bunny owner would I be if I didn't get a cybunny on Neopets. Well... I got one. hehehehe.

they only come around once a year so they are really hard to get. And people create too many (IMHO). But hey ... they didn't ask me. People are creating 20 at a time. What for I have NOOO idea but. Well actually I kind of do. It's just like sniping on ebay. You wait for that LAST second and when you get it ELATION! you really won. or in Neopet's case... you got something you can only get once a year now. Pretty cool, she's yellow and named JollyBugs, after my own Bugs bunny that I have :)

I also have two Eyries. One blue and one red. The red one I adopted well frankly cause I like Eyries and I couldn't get a Cybunny.

I'm working on getting a Packrat Avatar. Which means you have to have 1000 in your Safety Deposit Box and it's kinda hard to do but I'll get there eventually. LOL I'm already up to like 140. If I had known about the avie before... I probably would be halfway there by now. I've sold a bunch of stuff and well ... given away some and donated some so ... oh well. That's life. Ah the things you learn after the fact.

The cybunny boards are insane. Some of them get mad cause they can't get them. the ones that have so many are mad cause the ones that don't have any are mad. LOL It's too funny to watch the boards. I'm perfectly happy with my one cybunny JollyBugs!

birds and bird baths

Well I've found yet ANOTHER hobby to play with.

Birds. We fixed a bird bath two days ago. Yesterday I had it filled with water. It worked pretty good except that it's made in an old stump and doesn't hold water too well yet. :( We have decided we are going to get some cement and make the stump that we have level before trying to make a better bird bath. I took some pictures, I'll put them up tomorrow after Terry goes fishing.

We were supposed to go to Marion, IL to take him to the doc. Nothing big just normal stuff. But he wasn't feeling good so we didn't go.

I'm getting lots of birds in the bird bath now. I think it's HILARIOUS to watch them taking their bath. Once we get the nice one done it'll be bigger. This one isn't very big and it doesn't hold water very well. I'm pretty happy with it now but Terry isn't and honestly I think the ideas he has will work out great and it'll be REALLY pretty. Only one way to find out. We probably won't get it done for another week anyways.

Easter

Wow! The year is already moving faster than a speeding bullet. I can't believe how fast the time is passing. It's already April. In a short few days (April 14) my boyfriend and I will have been together 2 years. Wow.

Sunday will be Easter and I'm not quite ready for it yet. Everything piled up on us last week and I didn't have time for ANYTHING! It seemed like I was trying to get things together and then all of a sudden I ran out of time. Today (sometime) I've got to go and get Easter candy and eggs for my daughter at school. Not fun.

I'm trying to get an aquarium for my two little baby turtles. One of them decided he needed to crawl over my foot... so I stuck him in my pocket. The other ... well my stepson came in and gave it to me. So now I've got two lol

When Terry and I went fishing the other day ... this is one of the MANY pictures that I took of the lake. I thought this one was the best of the bunch don't you???

I also took some pictures of little ol me to show off LOL my face is a little sunburned between the walk that I just returned from and the time I spent on the lake in the sun. but hey ... I turned a couple heads when I took my walk this afternoon. LOL

vacation??? hahaha don't make me laugh

Well ... this week has been just SOOO much fun. We told everyone STAY AWAY. Don't call, don't come by don't bother us. Well.. that worked well the day I took Natalie to Illinois.

I took her up Saturday afternoon. Which meant that I didn't get home until about 11 p.m.

Sunday Terry went fishing without me. I walked around town and generally goofed off at home.

We were enjoying our time together Monday and knock knock knock. The oldest daughter was at the door. I said hey ... we said NO company. She said well I've got a message from a friend of Terry's. I said alright fine. So she came in to tell him the message and to find out if she could borrow some money. We didn't and don't have it of course. So she said ok I'll tell momma to bring the baby in. So ... they came in and stayed for a couple hours. They hadn't been gone more than 10 minutes when the oldest boy called. I picked up the phone and said we don't want to be bothered today. He said well I've got a flat tired. I said I don't care. He said well screw it and hung up on me. I was half kidding. I wouldn't leave the kids so they couldn't get to work. So I called him back. He needed a ride to work. Which meant spending an hour to pick him up and then take him to work.

Monday night I went to go get something to eat and got into a MAJOR hail storm. Was NOT fun for me. I put the truck into park, put on the flashers cause heaven forbid someone should come from behind me and hit me. Put my arms over my head and said ok just hurry up with the hail will ya. I called Terry on the phone scared to death and almost in tears. I went ahead and went to get something to eat since if I had turned around to go home I would have been running right back into it. NO THANKS!

So Tuesday of course we had to go take the truck into to have the damage estimated at almost 2400 bucks. We also have a 500 dollar deductible. I was supposed to take the oldest daughter to the store with me. Well when we got back from having the guy do the estimate for the hail damage the two oldest kids were here. The boy who had the flat tire the day before needed a ride to go get the tire and then to the truck to pick it up so he could go to work. Never mind that he was driving a truck when he got here. He said he didn't think it would make it to where he wanted to get the tire from. so ... the oldest daughter took him to get the tire and said she'd be right back. Two hours later she finally showed up. She was supposed to go to work so I said well I guess that means we won't get to go shopping huh? she said no I still need to go. So we went ahead and left and I took the estimate up to the insurance company to give them the estimate and hope they would give us the check. We had almost decided that we wouldn't have the truck fixed and just get the check and pay off some of the bills. Wrong again. They said oh well we'll have the guy fix it and have him send us the final bill and we'll pay him direct.

Wednesday we actually got to go fishing for a couple hours. We came home to the oldest daughter and his wife here. Yeah he's still married.

Today we were getting ready to go fishing and the youngest child called and said hey can I borrow 50 or 60 dollars so my husband can get home and back to work and home before he gets paid Friday night. :(

I don't understand. We told them ... don't call us this is our time for a break and yet they have been "needing us" more this week than any other time. Course Sunday I have to go get my daughter back from Illinois. Maybe then it'll slow down.

Whew. I'm tired of all the running around.
have a great day!

neopets

check this out! I got addicted to neopets a little over a week ago! I love em. there are games to play and little creatures you can have!

My creature looks like a crossbetween an Eagle and something else I'm not sure what. :) they've got some REALLY cute ones and some ugly ones and some ... I'm just not sure what they are. LOL

Have a great day and if you decide to join me. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

complaint of the day!

My daughter is on vacation this week and I wanted to go fishing but instead it looks like I'm going to be running all over the place trying to get the truck fixed. We got some HEAVY hail damage last night. It wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't been IN the truck. That was NO FUN! It broke the bug shield, one of the windbreaker things on the back passenger door and the driver's door. I don't know what they call em but those little visor things. Broke the cooler that was in the back all to smithereens. it was NOT fun!

Today I visited with my boyfriend's daughter and his wife. Yeah I said wife. They are still married. I have the papers all drawn up. All he has to do is find a notary public to have them signed and then take them to the courthouse and have them filed. After 60 days it's all done. I'm not real worried about it. We aren't ready to jump into the marriage thing anyways.

Tomorrow he's supposed to go fishing with his best friend which means I won't get to go AGAIN! Wednesday, Thursday and Friday it's supposed to be bad weather! So ... i won't get to go fishing at all and it'll be back to ... I can't go cause my daughter will be coming home from school and he doesn't like to come back in just so I can get my daughter off the bus. Oh well typical of the way shit goes around here. he does what he wants and I get to sit at home and do nothing.
